Search Engines and Filtering Options

Although search engines enable your kids to find fun websites and educational information, they can also be an efficient gateway to pornography and other objectionable content.  Major search engines have addressed this need by creating child-safe zones.  Some give the option of parental controls or safe searches.  Consult the information on your search engine provider to make sure that the safe search is on.  The following are examples of search engines that offer filtering tools to help block inappropriate content that kids might stumble upon during searches:

AlltheWeb

AltaVista

AskJeeves

Bing

Google

Lycos
